A true eScript is created digitally inside your practice software and sent directly to a VetScript-authorised pharmacy, not as an attachment or image.
Unlike platforms that rely on manually uploaded PDFs, VetScript stores the eScript as the single source of truth within a Prescription Exchange Service (PES): the same secure framework used in human health to enable interoperability between practices and pharmacies.
Because the eScript travels through this framework, it is traceable from end to end and cannot be duplicated or altered once it is issued. A scanned or emailed copy has none of these safeguards: it can be forwarded, copied, or edited, and there is no shared record of whether it has already been dispensed.
