This guide has been created for prescribing veterinarians already using PetBooqz as their practice software and wish to enable VetScript.
Introduction to VetScript
VetScript is a fully digital prescribing platform that seamlessly integrates into your PetBooqz practice software.
It provides a direct way to send eScripts to pharmacies for veterinary medications and human medications (for off-label animal use) and compounded medications for your clients.
These medications can then be dispensed and picked up by your clients at an external pharmacy, delivered to the client or delivered to your clinic.
With VetScript's integration in PetBooqz, you can:
Create electronic prescriptions (eScripts)
Monitor the status of these scripts at the pharmacy
Send requests to the pharmacy to cancel a script
Repeat the script if it has repeats available
How to enable VetScript
Step 1: Open the admin panel
Click the red cog on the left menu in Petbooqz. Then select Practice Preferences.
Step 2: Enable Vetscript
Go to the Miscellaneous tab, open the VetScript panel, and turn on Use Vetscript. This enables or disables VetScript for your system.
Step 3: Enter the site code
Type in the Site Code (required) assigned to you by Vetscript when you signed up. If you haven't received this code, reach out to Petbooqz or Vetscript at [email protected].
Step 4: Set 'pay in clinic' options
Choose one of the following payment setups:
Option 1: Your practice does not charge the client for the price of the medication
Payment is made in clinic for a script fee only. The pharmacy contacts the client to collect payment.
You charge a script fee set in this section.
You do not charge the cost of the medication itself.
Option 2: Your practice charges the client for the price of the medication
Payment is made in clinic for medication dispensed from the pharmacy
You charge the client the full amount shown for each item from the chemist.
Add GST and any additional fees set here.
Step 5: Save Settings
Click Save to confirm your setup.
Step 6: Add Partner Pharmacies
Navigate back to the Admin Panel and look for the green and white panel under 'Add ons' titled 'VetScript Pharmacies', for example, Vets Love Pets (VLP) Pharmacy.
Click this panel, then add new pharmacies to your list of partnered pharmacies. Use the search bar to look up pharmacies by suburb or pharmacy name.
If results are found, they will appear as an option in the dropdown. Select it and press 'Add'. Repeat this step for each partner pharmacy.
NOTE: You cannot order medications or submit scripts to pharmacies via VetScript that are not on this list. If there is a pharmacy you would like to send eScripts to that isn't already on the VetScript network, please send us an email at [email protected].
Step 7: Set up your script fee
Set up your script fee by adding a new item in PetBooqz Central. Set the barcode to "VETSCRIPT". Leave the price of this item as "0" and set the dispensing fee to your desired script fee (EXGST). Please also ensure this item is ticked as "Allow name change". Once complete, download it to your practice.
Step 8: Input your vet registration number
Each prescribing vet must input their vet registration number to enable VetScript. In the PetBooqz Central dashboard, select Practices, and then Staff List.
Locate your name, and click Edit.
Enter your Vet Registration Number (you will need to enter this at the point of prescribing).
Go to PetBooqz admin panel and click Staff.
Click the Download icon. This will download your Vet Registration Number from PetBooqz central to VetScript.
